The SHL selected Anchorage Igloos C Jake Frost as its Player of the Week. For the week, Frost scored 7 points (6 goals, 1 assist), and led Anchorage to a 3-1-0 week that helped them seize first place in the West. With his prolific scoring week, Frost has now moved into a tie with Hamilton’s Steven Alexander for third place in the SHL in goals with 45.
Frost usually comes up biggest when his team needs him the most, and this game was no exception. On Tuesday the center had a hat trick, scoring all of the Igloos’ goals in a crucial 3-1 win over Seattle, their rival for the Western title. Frost also scored a goal in Sunday’s 5-3 win over Dakota, as well as in both end of Anchorage’s home-and-home with Saskatchewan.
“This is Frosty’s time of the year,” said Igloos coach Sam Castor. “When the spotlight is brightest, when the stage is biggest, that’s when you know you can count on Jake to come through. We’re playing our best hockey right now, and anyone who wants to take the Vandy from us had better be ready for that.”
