The SHL selected Hamilton Pistols LW Steven Alexander as its Player of the Week. It’s the third time in four weeks that Alexander has captured the honor. a testament to how red-hot the star shooter has been over the last month. This week, he led all players in the SHL by notching 11 points. Although Alexander is best known for his goal scoring, he had more assists this week (7) than goals (4). He continues to rocket up the league leader boards; he’s now tied with teammate Calvin Frye for second in the SHL in points (75) and goals (40).
On Sunday, Alexander fed Frye for a pair of assists as the Pistols pounded Dakota, 7-2. On Thursday, he scored twice and added an assist as Hamilton fell just shy against Seattle, 5-4. Friday was his best performance of the week, as he produced a five-point day (2 goals, 3 assists) in a key 5-3 win over Saskatchewan. Thanks to Alexander, the Pistols remain in playoff position in the closely-contested East.
“There’s a hunger in Alex like I’ve never quite seen,” said teammate Claude Lafayette. “He’s always been young, scrappy, and hungry, but he’s more driven than ever to get us to the top. Man, the man is non-stop.”
