The SHL selected Hamilton Pistols LW Steven Alexander as its Player of the Week. The recently-married star winger is getting hot at the right time as the Pistols prepare for a playoff push. This week, Alexander recorded 9 points (5 goals, 4 assists) and helped Hamilton move within a point of a playoff spot in the East. He is now within the league’s top ten in both goals (with 24) and points (with 46).
On Tuesday, Alexander had a five-point game, scoring a pair and adding three assists as the Pistols whipped Washington 6-1. And on Saturday in front of his hometown fans at Gunpowder Armory, he recorded a hat trick, providing the margin of victory in a crucial 7-4 triumph over New York, the Pistols’ bitter rival.
“I know a lot of people have been doubting Alex,” said Pistols coach Keith Shields. “And he’s been taking names of everyone who’s doubted him, and he’s getting ready to prove them all wrong, as he gets ready to lead us into the playoffs.”
