The SHL selected Michigan Grey Wolves G Dirk “The Bear” Lundquist as its Player of the Week. It’s the second time this year that he won the honor, having also been recognized in Week 2. For the week, Lundquist posted a 4-0-1 record with a 0.98 GAA and a .962 save percentage. Thanks to Lundquist’s exceptional prowess between the pipes, the Wolves were able to widen their lead in the West.
On Saturday, Lundquist stopped 42 shots to lead Michigan to a 2-1 win over Dakota. The next night, facing the Wolves’ closest competitor in Anchorage, he held the Igloos down and battled them to a 1-1 tie. He finished the week by shutting out Quebec 3-0.
“I never stop being amazed by The Bear,” said Michigan coach Ron Wright. “The deeper we go into the season, the better he gets. He lives for big games and key situations.”
