The SHL selected Washington Galaxy G Roger Orion as its Player of the Week. For the week, Orion posted a 3-0-2 record with a 1.91 GAA and a .931 save percentage.
He got a workout, with three overtime games on the week. On Sunday, Orion stopped 31 of 32 shots as the Galaxy knocked off Hamilton, 3-1. The next night, Orion made 33 saves and Washington toppled New York in overtime, 4-3.
“Roger usually doesn’t get talked about among the elite goaltenders in the league, but I think he belongs in that conversation,” said Galaxy coach Rodney Reagle. “I’d stack him up against anyone else in the league, and I look forward to the playoffs when we can prove it.”
