The SHL selected Anchorage Igloos G Ty Worthington as its Player of the Week. For the week, Worthington recorded a 4-1-0 mark with a 1.37 GAA and a .946 save percentage. His performance was instrumental in leading the Igloos to take over first place in the West.
On Thursday, Worthington recorded his second shutout of the year (and the fourth in SHL history) as the Igloos scored a crucial 2-0 win over Michigan.
“Ty has really stepped his game up for us,” said Igloos coach Sam Castor. “Knowing that he’s got that end of the ice buttoned up really gives us a sense of security. We’re a championship-caliber team, and he’s a championship-caliber goalie.”
